(a) Call for papers

Technical Papers Team of 66th Indian Foundry Congress announces “Call for Papers” for this important Annual event of Indian Foundry Industry. It will take place in Gandhinagar (near Ahmedabad), during 10-11-12 January, 2018.
Initially, an abstract of approx. 300-400 words will be needed, in which the Author(s) should summarise the work carried out, give main findings and conclusions, indicating the significance of the work to the industry. The paper should be written in English. (Closing Date: 31-07-2017)

Subjects: It can focus on any one or more of the following areas:
  • Success Story / Case Study in Foundry Operations/Business
  • Cast Iron (Grey & Ductile Iron, ADI, Alloyed Iron)
  • Cast Steels, High Alloy Steels, Nickel alloys
  • Light Alloys (Aluminium, Magnesium, Titanium)
  • Copper Alloys
  • Foundry Technologies, Manufacturing Equipments, and Automation
  • Energy Saving
  • Advanced Engineering : Design, Calculation and Simulation Tools, and Rapid Prototyping Technologies
  • Moulding, Coremaking
  • Pattern and Tool making
  • Management, Education and Training
  • Investment Casting
  • Permanent Mould Casting of Grey/Ductile Iron
Important Last Dates
  • Submission of Abstracts : 31-07-2017
  • Abstract Acceptance and Notification to Authors : 31-08-2017
  • Submission of Full Paper : 31-10-2017
  • Final Paper Approval by Technical Papers Team : 30-11-2017
Authors are requested to submit the abstracts by email to :
The abstract will be analyzed based on the relevance and technological contribution to the subject, among other parameters. The author(s) will be informed by email of the acceptance or refusal of the abstract, in normal cases within one month after receiving the abstract. Format of the final paper (length approx. 3,000 – 4,000 words) will be sent to the Authors at that time.
(b) Special Sessions / Panel Discussions on Specific Subjects

Technical Papers Team of 66th IFC also intends to organize 2 or 3 Special Sessions/Panel Discussions, each focusing on a specific subject, from among the following subjects. Selection of the subject will be based on the interest shown by the potential participants in each field.

  • Attracting & Retaining People in Foundry Field / Supporting Employees in Their Career Growth
  • Automation in SME Foundries
  • High Pressure Moulding (including Sand Preparation)
  • Moulding / Coremaking using Chemically-bonded Sand (including Sand Reclamation)
  • Effective Use of Instrumentation in Foundry Operations
  • Investment Casting
  • High Pressure Diecasting
  • Sand – Supply/Availability, also Disposal of Used Sand

Focus Areas: On each subject the focus areas will be:

– Present Scene in this field in India, including SWOT Analysis
– Latest Developments in this field
– Improvement Avenues in this field
– Any other useful input by the participant(s)
Special Sessions/Panel Discussions (each session of upto 2 hours duration) will be held under active participation by selected experts from foundries, equipment/materials suppliers, consultants and other stake-holders in each subject. Foundrymen/Delegates will be encouraged to participate in large number in such workshops.
