1. Inappropriate allocation of resources along with improper skills:

Proper event staffing is very critical, yet improper allocation of the resources is a major mistake that an event organizer makes while managing an event.

Your event could turn out to be a disaster if you are not able to incorporate efficient people with the perfect skills to manage your event.

The event organizers should have a full visibility into the skills and workloads of all of their resources in order to plan a successful event and get it all on the right track.

2. Too much of social media promotions could be harmful too:

Trust me when I say this. You need not be everywhere in order to promote your event. Follow us on Twitter, Like us on Facebook, Join us on LinkedIn, and stuff like that is not what is actually required.

Events which can make their small and cared for presence in the channels where the possible attendees could hang out are more likely to earn respect over time.

3. Miscommunication could potentially be a headache:

Poor communication barrier between yourself and your team could lead the event to be a mess. Being an event organizer you are expected to deliver certain outputs and it solely depends on you to make sure that those expectations are met.

Because the success or failure of the event is something which is decided by the people who would be attending your event. Now if there has been a miscommunication between yourself and the members of your team then that could turn out to be a mess at the time of the event.

You need to actively listen to the opinions of your team members and use your intuition and perception to deliver their expectations better. Be in constant touch with your team over the progress in the planning of your event.

4. Lack of a backup plan:


“Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”

Being an event planner this is a law which should never be far from your thoughts.

None of the perfect preparation and planning in this world can guarantee a flawless event. You could hope for the best and there’s no doubt to it that you still need to be prepared for the worst. Having a backup plan could save you if at all things go wrong at any point.

You need to perform an event risk assessment prior to the event start so that you can figure out things that may possibly go wrong and be backed up for the worst case scenarios.

5. Lazing with the Follow-up:

There is a saying: “The fortune is in the follow-up.”

You’ll be missing a trick if you don’t send a follow-up message after your event because that is the point of time when your attendees are the most engaged with your event and your brand and hence your emails could get the highest open and click through rates which will help you in leveraging your attendees and engage them with your brand for the future event opportunities.
