GDPR i.e. General Data Protection Regulations are going be enforced in EU from 25th May. The EU government is passing this law in order to protect the privacy of its citizens. GDPR principles will be implemented to safeguard the personal information of the data subjects. With this new law in place, EU citizens will have various rights like Right to Erasure, Right to Access, Right to Data Portability, Right to restriction of processing, Right to Rectification and so on. All these rights will ensure transparency of usage of data subject’s data.   There are 99 Articles about GDPR, all of which lays out certain rules, principles, and policies on how to process personal information, what are the measures to opt for in case of data breach, what are the fines levied on organisations if they are not compliant with GDPR and have business ties in EU and so on.

Personal Information on the data subjects includes their name, identification number, location, genetic information, biometric data, economic status, ethnicity, social identity of a person. In short, any information by which identity of a natural person can be identified.The article 6 lays down the lawfulness of processing personal data.
